Shiloh’s Independence Day Celebration

The Shiloh church, just south of Kalona, welcomes you to a celebration honoring America’s Independence Day with live bands and food vendors, featuring the famous production of “Fireworks Spectacular” in its farewell presentation. Come to southeast Iowa on July 3rd to sit under the stars and watch the fireworks choreographed to music. The retiring pyrotechnic “Fireworks Spectacular” has had a great run and a new, yet to be designed, fireworks show will return in 2018 specifically for the Kalona and Shiloh communities.

Show producer Rick Holbrook says it is time to move on to a different show: “We have enjoyed bringing this fabulous fireworks display to the southeastern Iowa neighborhoods for many years, but it is time to say goodbye to this production. This show costs an estimated $75k with the gear brought from Los Angeles, the fireworks run by the Richmond Shooters, and travel expenses for the 100 mostly volunteer cast and crew. The 2018 show will return to the roots of this annual celebration and be a great show for Shiloh and the local Kalona community, and possibly be moved from the 3rd to the 4th. Our goal is always to honor our Nation’s birthday and we will always keep that as our primary focus in future Independence Day celebrations.”

Shiloh’s Independence Day fireworks celebration with live bands and “Fireworks Spectacular” will be carrying on a thirty-year tradition, and it has evolved once again to incorporate brilliant displays of close-proximity fireworks timed perfectly to music. Advances in pyrotechnics are bringing the show closer to you, making the show viewable exclusively from the benches and grass of the Shiloh amphitheater. Bucket bombs, scatter shots, and cakes are just a few of the fantastic explosives that have wowed you in the past. Bring the whole family to enjoy an evening of entertainment and activities including face painting, balloon animals, local food vendors, live music and more!

Gates open at 5pm. Live bands will be starting at 7pm, followed by the fireworks show after dusk, at approximately 9:30. There will be concessions available and picnic baskets are welcome. Bench and grass seating are available on a first come first serve basis.
Admission is free ($10.00 for parking – cash only). Parking is limited and will be first come first serve. We will accept around 1,000 cars and, based on space, we may have to close the gates once we have reached capacity. No buses or RVs – no exceptions. Gates close at 8pm. No walk-ons. Please do not park on the surrounding roads.

Patience is suggested when exiting after the fireworks as Highway One is very congested. Please follow all traffic officers’ directions at Highway One carefully.
(There may be construction at Highway One in Kalona.)
